Which Method of Teeth Whitening is Right for You??
October 20, 2014
There are many different methods for teeth whitening, some more effective than others. Between whitening toothpaste, whitening strips you can buy over the counter, and whitening done by your dentist the real question is which method should you use?
Whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes don’t actually do very much. These products are great for oral health and for maintaining a cavity-free smile, but won’t do much to change discolored teeth.
Our teeth tend to discolor with age and with certain habits. Smoking, coffee, and other foods and drinks can, over time, take away the brightness from our smiles.
The whitening strips that you can buy over the counter at the store can work decently, but they aren’t very easy to use and don’t whiten all of your teeth. Also be weary of what you buy since not all whitening strips work with the same effectiveness.
For the best results, teeth whitening done by your dentist is the method to use. You’ll use the most effective substances to give teeth their natural sparkle. Products over the counter are usually very weak compared to the whitening products used by the dentist. In other cases they can be far too strong. Your dentist can choose the strength of the solution that will be best for you.
Trying to whiten your teeth on your own is a challenge with many unknowns. It’s hard to know if the product you choose will actually do anything for you and can result in wasted money and an unchanged smile. Whereas a dentist can analyze your smile and choose the best method for you!
